Covenant Giving – A commitment to give a certain percentage of your income to the work of ministry. In the Old Testament, the standard was 10%, Since the New Testament is more glorious than the Old, we believe that 10% is the floor and not the ceiling. However we expect every believer to seek God for how much they should give, see 2 Corinthians 8:1-8
Anything you give above your covenant giving is offering. God sets no minimum or maximum on how much we give as an offering. Anything you give as an offering is an outward expression of your heart’s desire for God to take what you unselfishly give outside of what you are commanded to, and use it for His glory and the furthering of His kingdom.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
